Early Intervention Play Day / Early Intervention Programme in Northern Ireland (May 2026)

We are delighted to invite families to our upcoming Early Intervention Play Day at SEN Space, Dunmurry.

Taking place on Monday 25th May from 10:30–12:00, this session is a wonderful opportunity for children and families to explore our setting in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Children can attend from their 2nd birthday, and we are currently allocating places for our 2–4 year old Early Intervention Programme for September 2026 and see families each year from Lisburn, Belfast and right across Northern Ireland applying.

Looking for Early Intervention in Northern Ireland? SEN Space offers Early Intervention and supports children from across Belfast, Lisburn and across Northern Ireland.

This play day is ideal for families who have already applied, offering the chance to meet our experienced staff team, ask questions, and see first-hand how we support children within our sessions. We also warmly welcome families who are interested in the programme but have not yet applied.

SEN Space is a specialised service delivering structured, educational sessions for children with additional needs. Our programme provides opportunities for children to play, learn, socialise, move, and regulate within a safe and nurturing environment.

Early intervention is vital for children with additional needs, as it supports development at a crucial stage in their early years. By identifying and addressing needs early, children are better supported to develop communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence. It can also help to reduce the likelihood of difficulties becoming more complex over time, supporting smoother transitions into nursery and school settings and promoting more positive long-term outcomes.

We understand that families also need support. Alongside our children’s Intervention Programme (which sees children from Lisburn, Belfast and right across Northern Ireland), we offer a parent support and training programme, recognising the importance of providing guidance, reassurance, and opportunities for respite. Caring for a child with additional needs can be demanding, and having the right support in place can make a meaningful difference for the whole family.

Our service is designed to be accessible and supportive—a formal diagnosis is not required, and parents can refer their child directly without needing to wait for a professional referral. Children benefit from input from a sensory therapist and speech and language therapist, who visit weekly to support their individual needs.

We are pleased to offer fully funded and part-funded places, with sessions supported through the Pathway Fund, helping to ensure families can access the support they need. Parents may also use the following supports to contribute towards programme costs:

Our staff team are highly qualified and experienced in Special Educational Needs, including Early Years Specialists and Teachers, ensuring every child receives the highest standard of care and support.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child for a morning of play, exploration, and connection and remember you can always keep up to date with all of our news and updates on Facebook and Instagram. Alternatively please sign up for our newsletter on our home page.
