-
Check the safety of all the children and remove them from the immediate area- never leave them unattended.
-
If necessary, dial 999 for emergency services.
-
If necessary, administer emergency first aid.
-
Contact the children’s parents or emergency contact.
In the event of a natural disaster or fire, where the evacuation of the building becomes Necessary, the following will apply:
-
Fire: The staff and children will be removed from the building and relocated to the outside play area, or the garden at the rear, depending on the location of the fire. The fire service will be called. Staff will maintain supervision of their group with attendance sheets in hand, checking all children are accounted for. It is the keyworkers responsibility to ensure their designated child / children are safe and always with them until they are collected by parents. It is the managers responsibility to ensure all staff and children are evacuated. When safe to do so, staff will proceed to notify parents by phone, informing them of the incident, and the immediate collection of their child.
-
Power Failure: Management will call Power NI or SSE Airtricity to find out the estimated time for repair and return of power. If it is longer than one hour during either extreme summer heat or a cold winter, parents will be notified to pick up their child or children.
-
Adverse Weather Conditions: Management will contact parents by both telephone and email to inform that SEN Space will be closed until weather conditions improve.
